BEN_SCREENSHOT.jpg

Benjamin is a Los Angeles based actor, writer and producer. Along with appearing in others' projects, Benjamin has been creating works of his own since moving to L.A. over 7 years ago. most recently, he has created a series of videos that showcase his multiple characters. The crowd favorite? Marissa, of course. When Benjamin isn't writing or in front of the camera, he can be found on the golf course, dancing in front of the mirror in his bedroom, or applying chapstick 14-18 times a day.

OF COURSE MARISSA HAS A TAKE ON SUSTAINABLE FASHION. THIS IS NOT A COMMERCIAL. I DIDN'T PAY HER.

If I had to use one word to describe sustainable fashion now that I’m pretty much an expert on it, I’d probably have to use “necessary.” It’s no secret that humans are just one giant, trash producing virus that’s slowly destroying our beautiful planet, and our waste comes from every nook and cranny of our lives.  The saddest culprit, however, is our clothes. Our swag. Our garments. OUR IDENTITIES!

Wardrobes are essential to the way in which we present ourselves, so obviously we’re going to feed the beast with every chance we get. But gone are the days that we can afford to be gluttonous in the name of fashion. We’re stock piling LITERALLY millions of  tons of wasted clothing faster than you can say “Smile for the camera, bitches!” Which is why we need to start dressing not only for impressing, but also for sustaining.

We need to support brands that are, say it with me, “RECYCLING!” Why create new garments from scratch when there are old garments just waiting for the chance to come out of retirement and reincarnate as something totally new, exciting, and different. It gives designers a chance to be creative and consumers a chance to be effective. You can still be hot and trendy and stylish and cool, but now you’ll just being doing all of that while reducing your emissions. And let’s be honest, what’s cooler right now than being sustainable? We’re all in this together people. It’s time to wake up and smell the greed.
